Review of the Type O Negative show in Santa Ana, CA

DRAIN:

Isn't enough I can say about this band. Really tight and awesome. Loved all 30 minutes of it. Wish it was more like an hours worth. A little on the scarey looking side but alll the more a band to keep an eye on. I'm sure as they get more exposer and mature they are gonna get only better. Buy the CD it's worth the money!!! Can we say the 90's version of the Go-Go's. In my opinion they could be that big...

Sister Machine Gun:

Well alot of users have been hard on this band. I think only due to the singers attitude. He is a little dicky but the music wasn't that bad. One thing I can say though is the drummer really kicked some major ass. He's what held the band together the whole night. I don't think they were a good choice to be in the line-up. Different type of muzic and crowd. Everyone seemed to stay and listen but not with their full attention. It was like listening to music in a bar. Good time to check out the women.

The Venue::: Galaxy Theatre (Santa Ana, California) about 8 miles from Disneyland..

The Galaxy is a diner theatre. Very small floor for dancing. It is horseshoe shapped with dinner tables all around the horseshoe. A different type of concert experience for me. No matter where you sat you had a great view. You had to have reservations for dinner to sit at the tables. Which me and the wife did.

TYPE-O-NEGATIVE

I'm not going to go into the song list because it hasn't changed. Neither has Peter's wacky comments before and after songs. All I going to say is that it was incredible. Peter looks like a damn monster. Black Jean's , white tank top, bottle of wine, and a NYPD cap on. Each and every song was perfect. No screw ups. Paul Schaeffer was awesome on the keyboards. (my little joke.) I think thats the way all keyboardist act. But what else can you do behind a rack? THe stage set was nice, green vines and autumn trees. I think the highlight of the show for me was Christian woman. It seemed to start the place on fire. At the show you had you normal mix of wanna bes. The children painting their faces and wearing their cloaks. But if you asked them who Peter Murphy was they couldn't tell you. Which in my mind is how you determine a try goth or not. The set lasted an hour and a half. Which is standard type o. Wish it could have been more. At the door they were handing out a CD single of love you too death. Sorry and Pissed I didn't get one. All in all in was a great place to spend the evening wth my valentines.

In closing a quote from Peter only made at this show so far right before Love you to Death " Happy Valentines Day, Just wanted to let you know the Valentines Day is a celebration of the St. Valentine, who is a Saint for Suckers""
